Resumen: El Mariscal Cáceres escribió inicialmente las Memorias, que sirvieron de base a su hija Zoila Aurora Cáceres, para la obra “Campaña de la Breña”. Como no quedó satisfecho del carácter historiográfico de este primer intento, decidió dictar las “Memorias de la Guerra del 79”, y fue el comandante Julio Cesar Guerrero su escritor. Contribuyó directamente en la preparación, redacción y difusión del máximo tratado militar y de guerra del Perú, en tres momentos: 1) proceso interactivo en la redacción de la obra al dictado del Mariscal Cáceres; 2) Pergeñar la primera edición europea (1924) y; 3) Lograr a base de voluntad, tenacidad y perseverancia, que la segunda edición de las “Memorias de la Guerra con Chile” haya sido difundida de manera exitosa a partir de 1973.
Abstract: Marshal Cáceres initially wrote the Memoirs, which served as the basis for his daughter Zoila Aurora Cáceres, for the work “Campaña de la Breña”. As he was not satisfied with the historiographic nature of this first attempt, he decided to dictate the “Memoirs of the War of 1979”, and Commander Julio Cesar Guerrero was the writer of it. He contributed directly to the preparation, writing and dissemination of the highest military and war treaty of Peru, in three moments: 1) interactive process in the writing of the work dictated by Marshal Cáceres; 2) Concoct the first European edition (1924) and; 3) Achieve based on will, tenacity and perseverance, that the second edition of the “Memories of the War with Chile” has been successfully disseminated from 1973.
